If you're looking for a textbook dystopian read, then by all means check out Brave New World. It's a talent my brother-in-law has ( Shameless Plug: Go check out The Last Human, available here), but even he doesn't like Brave New World. But if every human being on the planet had the same views and the same interests.well, then Huxley wouldn't be too off base in the end, now would he? I have to tip my hat to Huxley, for I know that I could never pen a dystopian society, much as I wish I could. What does Susan Storm say is appealing about this book? "INFJs will appreciate the vision and scope of Huxley’s writing, and will likely reflect on the possibility of a similar scenario playing out in the future." Perhaps that's true. I did finish the book, but it was not one that I enjoyed.

Not only am I trying to complete Susan Storm's "10 Must-Read Books for INFJs" (and leaving it unread would leave the list unfinished), but, even as a standalone reading project, I hate starting something and not finishing it. So, why didn't I put it down? The simplest answer.I hate leaving things unfinished. To be fair, I think his audience at the time was surprised as well! But there are some books I have a hard time not putting down.Īldous Huxley's Brave New World was originally published in 1932, and I'll be honest in saying that I'm surprised at the content for that time period. Don't get me wrong.I love to sob to a great book as much as the next literary sadist. Okay, you guys by now know that I'm pretty much focused on the positive, right? I don't like to be critical (even while I'm editing I'm pretty positive), and my empathetic and overly-sensitive nature makes it hard to read tragic or painful things because I internalize so much.
